Golf courses in United States are in the focus when talk turns to water pollution.

Researchers agree that golf courses contribute to water pollution, contributing pesticides, nitrogen, phosphorus fertilizers to waterways. The one and only question is how much. Noone knows, because nobody measured the amount of that pollution.

From now on an agricultural engineer working for Agricultural Research Service(ARS) is measuring phosphore and nitrogen issues from golf courses. Kevin King is measuring these issues for three golf courses-Duluth in Minnesota, Austin, Texas and Columbus, Ohio. In case of Duluth and Columbus courses, pesticide losses are measured, too.

Another Agricultural Research Chemist Pan Rice works with King, collaborating on this project.
