Wildlife Preserves-Part Eleven

Arctic Foxes coat in summer becomes brown or bluish-gray, in winter the coat changes to snowy-white.

Thus their coat protects and camouflages them from hunting polar beers.

The color of Arctic Foxes coat allows them to catch and be the predator of small birds.

The fur of their coat on feet allows them to run lightly on snow, on the top of snow.

Wildlife Preserves-Part Ten

Adult muskoxens have massive horns.

To protect themselves from hungry predators, they form circles. In this case even wolves think twice to attack them.

Arctic foxes are members of the canid family. They are small animals changing their coat twice a year.

Wildlife Preserves-Part Nine

Muskoxens are less numerous in Arctic Wildlife Refuge than caribous.

They live in tundra. Tundra is covered with shrubs and ground is permanently frozen. Muskoxen heavy coat protects them from wind and heavy cold weather.

Wildlife Preserves-Part Eight

An important animal of Arctic Wildlife is caribou. Caribou is part of cervid(deer) family and bands in herds.

Caribou is tough animal, stocky, able to trek thousands of miles.

Caribous lives are threatened by weather and food shortage.

Wildlife Preserves-Part Six

The tundra is an important place of habitat for lot of animals, too. Tundra is composed of shrubs, lichen, and some underneathes.

Muskoxen lives in tundra all year, caribous spend springtime in tundra region. Brooks Range is the home of Dall sheep and rodents of small size. Boreal Forest is the home of hundreds of small animals, but wolves, too.

Wildlife Preserves-Part Five

It is essential to accentuate the main role of habitats relating to Wildlife Preserves.

These habitats include Beaufort Sea Ice Pack(north coast of Refuge), the arctic tundra at the south coast of Refuge, Brooks Range Mountains and boreal forests where polar beers are living their lives.
